Roughly two years have passed since Srixon’s Z 765 driver and Z U65 utility iron were released to the general public. Both clubs appear to be on the verge of being replaced after a Z 785 driver and Z U85 utility surfaced on TOUR at the Travelers Championship.
Srixon wouldn’t comment on the technical details, but based on photos taken Tuesday at TPC River Highlands, both clubs appear to have new technology and updated looks.
Visible in the center section of the crown is a braided design that likely hints at the addition of carbon fiber to the driver head. The material has been used in recent years to reduce weight in the crown that was repositioned elsewhere within the head to boost forgiveness.
A single weight port is once again positioned in the back of the head — similar to what was offered on Z 765 — but the orientation is now at a slight angle as opposed to being parallel with the face.
